Video Description: Marla Margetts, a rookie grade one teacher, explains how she achieved phenomenal results in developing number sense in her grade one class. She has a centres routine that student quickly become familiar with as they enter the class each morning. This gives her time to roam the room and talk to individual students about their thinking and equations. The predictability of the routine allows the students to plan their number sentences and they bring in some phenomenal mathematics concepts from home.
