Learn How to Add Using Power of Ten Shapes and Games CD

The CD is designed to work only on a PC (using Windows 95 or later) and includes the following activities:

  • Two games that can also played using the Power of Ten ten-frame cards
  • Visual clues in a technology format to help beginning or struggling students develop a sense of “tenness”. The main activity is designed to help students learn to add ten, and then to move to adding any number to 9. Students who do not understand can use a “help” key which assists them to recognize that borrowing 1 from the other number helps make nine into ten thus making the question easier. The activity then moves to adding numbers to 8 and then to 5. Eventually all the addition facts are covered.
  • An activity to help students order numbers using the Power of Ten ten-frame cards.
  • A multiple tracking system so students’ growth can be tracked.

There are plans to have a separate CD for ‘subtraction’ available by the fall of 2009. Anyone who owns the previous CD can apply the original purchase price toward the purchase of the new CD when it is available.
